I wasn't driving and got pulled over, i was leaving a party that sucked whilst the cops were pulling a surprise attack to bust it. Wrong place wrong time. Got off very easy though. I didn't have to pay any fees. The Drug classes were only four weeks long and ONCE a week. I do community service at a nature center and it's totally chill to just be out there helping out in the woods. probation is nothing more than meeting up with this chill ass guy and talking about how my life is (which usually pertains to boring talk about how i did on my ACT/AP tests and my job). And in all honesty, not being able to drive can be a luxury sometimes. saves me loads of cash, and gives me an excuse to catch a ride home with the girl i'm trying to take home.

tldr; don't drink & drive.

No, i hopped in my car and put the keys in the ignition while officers pulled up. I never turned the car on. Good catch though, i worded that badly.

ah they caught you with the old "You're behind the wheel" thing.

i got out of one of those by pulling the keys out, tossing them to the floor, quickly getting out and shutting the locked door behind me. smelling like alcohol isn't probable cause to enter a vehicle you're neither driving, sitting inside, nor behind the wheel of. helps to carry a spare door key. this also works if you're carrying "things", just keep it in the trunk and be as paranoid as a narc.

if they sneak up on you or the car is in an odd location (private property, illegally parked, etc) forget about it
