It makes sense when you realize that America is a one party state and most of the bickering between what we might call the two parties is a dog and pony show specifically meant to keep us divided and fighting one another rather than our true oppressors

Sure, they might bicker about social issues and I will generally agree with the Democrats on most of those, but the end result is still acheived either way: a subjugated population

Partisan gridlock is a feature, it protects the status quo as the nation lurches further and further to the right with the future goal of creating fortress America as the climate crumbles

Conservatism means the tendency to conserve what existed before. You point doesn't make sense because you are assuming the conservation started at whichever point you deem America becoming a one party state. Aversion to abortion was around since the founding of America.
