Oh jeez, all they can do is a "nuh-uh, the right are the real extremists".

The right does not consider it hateful to say that kids shouldn't have their genitals mutilated and given puberty blocking hormones when they're barely old enough to spell. That's a new thing, and it's extreme as fuck and it's only on the left. Who has gotten crazier on the right? There have always been the loony christian wackos, but the left's notion of some kind of ascendant army of white supremacists running around is a figment of their imagination.

The meme elon musk posted describes myself and a lot of other people. I never used to call myself conservative, but now people call *me* that based on the same beliefs I've always held.

Closer to 'uh guys, this graph isn't depicting what you think it is.'

But go off king

So you think the idea that the left has gotten radically more extreme while the right has remained more or less the same in their beliefs over the same time span is wrong or?

No I think the picture doesn't describe spectrum shift. It shows zeal, not position.

Which is what I said? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Yes I know, but I'm asking you directly if you think that's true or not (what I asked in the post you responded to), and why?

Nailing you down on specific clear answers is part of the fun!

(that the graph shows zeal is irrelevant to the question of whether spectrum shift is occuring, which it is. That graph just doesn't depict that specific metric)

Cool

I think alot of people are just more hysterical overall these days because big media and Amazon like them that way.

People who are more afraid, cynical, paranoid, or homebound are better online consumers $$$

this is true, the right has always been fascists since at least the 70's, it's only lately that they grew the balls to attempt to overthrow the government

the good news is that this particular manifestation of right wing outrage culture was too stupid and afraid to capitalize on their coup attempt, and they are now eating each other

the bad news is that all it takes now is someone smarter than trump, but with more charisma and less ego, to turn you fellers into the real fascists you've been trying to become for a few decades

if it wasn't grounded in white supremacy you'd have yourselves a real movement, but then it wouldn't be nascent fascism

The complete opposite is true.
