Ivermectin itself is literally approved by the FDA for use in humans for other ailments, it just hasn't been studied formally yet for treating covid. Different medications can treat different things, in different dosages. Ivermectin has not been studied for treating covid, since it's such a new disease. However it does show promise based on currently available data. Many doctors *are* prescribing it for particularly sick patients, after other options have failed.

Ivermectin requires a prescription for human use in the US. But the right fanatics taking it and yes many of them Trump fanatics are turning to horse deworming for it. And they are getting very sick over it and taking up already stressed hospital support.

The irony is even if even remotely correct (and we heard the same claims in the anti-parasite medicine hydroxychloroquine) both ivermectin and the moderna/Pfizer vaccine disrupt RNA in the host cells.
