It's on too late in my time zone but it looks interesting. Is the main character somehow a 'good guy' despite being a drug dealer? Or is he a loveable villain?

No one is a "good guy" on that show, even the DEA officer is an asshole (I won't spoil it for you if you didn't see it all ready). The main character isn't really a villain also, hes just a guy who cooks up meth to try and get money to pay for his cancer treatment. There are competition between him and other people though and I guess you could call them the "bad guys". The show is amazing though and I highly recommend you watch it.

Walter White certainly doesn't fit into the "good guy" role anymore.

Lovable villain perhaps -- really though he's a pretty fucked up dude.

this is true, TBH none of the characters are that respectable--

Except Gus. Gus is the fucking man.

Lol Gus scares me -- he's too calculating.

It's funny cuz Walt trusts Gus and really respects him as a business man....Walt has no idea that he's basically working directly with the cartel.

Walt definitely starts out as a good person. As the show goes on, his morals chip away more and more and he loses a little bit of his soul in each episode. However, from the beginning he has always been really clever and capable of being extremely devious, which force of circumstance brings out in him. In my opinion the character of Jesse is definitely the moral center of the show.
