- We think that children need to literally see a person of color heroic lead for them to be able to imagine that they too could become a heroic lead.

- Yet we dont think that every leader everywhere saying that the system is stacked against you and you should fear every person of power and nobody will give you any shot at anything... has no effect on children wanting to make something of themselves.

Systemic racism my ass. That shit was addressed decades ago. There is active systemic racism in place right now against whites, in an attempt to make the stagnation of the "other" less pronounced and it still doesn't work to create the same situation among whites who simply overcome, despite the restraints.

It's never been easier to succeed in the US as a black man. One only simply has to choose to commit to the path while trillions of philanthropic dollars fill your sails.

Black youth are taught that they can't bare personal responsibility for their lot in life. This is an insanely destructive idea to put into the mind of an impressionable young person. It's also extremely insulting and patronizing to the multitude of black people who have come from extreme poverty and have become extremely successful.

Young black males are taught by their peers that doing good in school is a "white" thing. This type of insane ideology which people are calling critical race theory is now infiltrating nearly every conceivable institution. To not recognize the threat this poses to the future prosperity of POC's is suicidally ignorant.

Pretty big difference between the general vibe of hanging out in my neighborhood, and going across the train tracks to the "white" neighborhoods. The white neighborhoods were alot more "square" and the criminally minded violents were a lot less prevalent, almost non-existent on the "white" side of town

It sounds like you're saying the more affluent (rich) neighborhoods had low crime, and the poor neighborhoods had more. Makes sense to me.

It also sounds like you're saying that minorities tended to live disproportionately in the poor neighborhoods, whereas the affluent areas were disproportionately white. Again, makes sense!

In fact historically, white people have deliberately designed their cities to create exactly those conditions. Only whites could purchase property in certain parts (the "good" parts), so minorities could only own homes in the worse neighborhoods. In other words, many cities literally have racism built into the geography itself: it doesn't get more systemic than that [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

And look, I'm not even disagreeing with what you're saying about society's messages, because that shit does matter too. But again, it's a drop in the bucket against the actual, systemic racism that does exist in our society. Stuff that goes back generations (eg. when the color of your skin could legally control where you could buy a home) ... but still screws over minorities even today.
