Danth - Yeah the 2jz is literally the best engine ever made, for all applications except gas sippers. Its ridiculously strong, and works perfect. Similarly, the other straight six 1jz in the 80 series land cruisers and others is also ultra reliable.

When I say ultra reliable I mean most of them are 300K engines and the bottom end is good for like 600k with a new 1000 dollar head thrown on.

Possible that you MIGHT need a head gasket at like 200,000 MAYBE its just a ridiculous engine.

Theres not even a contest. Theres definitely something about straight six engines though, even the shitbox jeep straight six is a good engine way better than the current v6's they have when it comes to doing car stuff (driving you places)

The accord is better than the Camry I’d say
Not as reliable, not as good. V6 have lots of problems due to cylinder deactivation. Lots of tranny problems too.

Neither of these are present in the equivilent Camry. Same goes with the Sienna vs Odyssey. I prefer the hondas if they were as reliable, but I've seen a lot of both. The sienna almost never loses a tranny before over 200k and the odyssey does maybe 20 percent of the time or more.

Accords are great, but they're not as reliable.

Still, top 2 isn't bad. Good job honda.

Honda lost me when they went full generic. No S2000, no element, civic same size as accord.

For honda its just the aesthetics and subective stuff like feel. A 2004 sienna is butt ugly inside vs the 2004 odyssey but its worth about 2000 dollars + more on the used market because they're straight up better, and the penny pincher knows this to be true.

And I'm a honda guy through and through. My first car was a 1988 honda CRX got 50mpg and I sold it to my dad and he took it to 290,000 miles and it still got 54mpg on the highway at that time.

But now that neither company makes a sports car I give a damn about, toyota all the way. If honda turned a new leaf which I'd bet my life they won't...I'll be there waiting.

I will link you data about maintenance costs that disagrees with your rankings and places Honda #1, stay tuned. Regardless, I own a Toyota and not a Honda, good choice either way

I can’t find it, so I’ll just admit I was wrong. When I looked for cost of ownership, numbers showed Kia and Hyundai being the lowest, and Mazda was lowest cost of maintenance

I stand corrected, although I still prefer the Honda Accord 2.0 sport to any Camry!

Bullseye. The current Ford Rangers are as big as 90s/early 2000 F150s. Everything keeps getting wider and fatter with safety. I don't think you can buy single-cab pickups anymore and they don't offer any cheap 'sport trucks' like they once did.

You need high end interiors and a suspension made for comfort. The pickup truck was a utility vehicle, not a soccer mom 'sport utility vehicle'. A work truck. Straight axle. 4X4.
It wasn't a $60,000 King Douche Ranch or something fay like that.

Fatter, wider, heavier, safety, uglier, comfort, safety. Needs to appeal to the Starbucks in you. Sprinkle glitter everywhere! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Before I found this Si in Houston and had it shipped here, the car I was looking at was an Accord sport with the 300hp V6 and Manual.. which is rare as hens teeth. Someone snatched it up before I could.

This was my next option, its smaller, less HP but has a 6-speed standard, thankfully no lady automatics or weirdo flappy-paddles in my street car. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I only want manual cars.

My first car was a Sedan de Ville I bought for a song--practically new--when the original purchaser barely used it then rudely died, leaving it to be repo'd. Beautiful thing, soft ride, open airy interior, huge seats, steering light as a feather--and the perfect car to be dating in when most of my peers foolishly wanted cramped-up sardine cans like Camaros or Porches. It demanded premium gas and if I drove it gently I could finagle 20 MPG or so out of it in normal driving, but gas was cheap. It met its end when some dweeb in an Accord decided to run a stop sign and I broadsided him at ~50 MPH. Car did its job--broke his Honda in half, protected me nicely. Other dude would've lost his legs if he was about 18 inches farther forward.

Bought it after trashing the hell out of dad's Mercury. Teenage boys are such jerks. I'm glad I have a daughter.

I've only ever owned Cadillacs and Buicks, up 'till the present Dodge van I use as a daily driver (and do not love). Worst car the wife and I had between us was a Lincoln Continental of hers that blew head gaskets on about an annual basis. Ford never seemed to fix that particular problem. We ended up ridding ourselves of the stupid thing and she bought a new Grand Marquis instead....even that's a few cars ago, now. Time flies.

---------------------------------

Blake: Not only are modern trucks huge, but most of them are jacked up so high now that they're difficult to actually use for work, loading and unloading. I'm tall and I have a hard time reaching over the bedside of some of them. It's silly.

I don't care for stick shifts, though. An F-600 flatbed cured me of that particular affliction.

Exactly why I almost bought a type R as a daily driver, but it looks like shit and only Chinese with tattoos who think they can fight because they take jiujitsu would drive

You can still get a single cab F150 short bed and a single cab dodge short bed.

But chevy dropped it.

Yeah I like ricer style, but the new civics are just not small. I'd rather have a ford fiesta ST

But yeah a new truck is 40,000 dollars.

I mean almost a new anything is 20,000 and mostly 30,000
