You don't blame the President for the failed actions of the citizenry if he warns the public and tells them what is recommended to do. You don't him for the tens of thousands of deaths that could not have been prevented no matter what.

You should blame him for ignoring the risk to the public, lying to the public, and politicizing the process because he thinks it will help him win re-election to do so. You should blame him for the deaths of those whipped up into a political frenzy who went out of their way to take unnecessary risks and ended up getting COVID and dying; after spreading it to others, of course.

All Trump had to do was engage the public, lead by example, turn the response over to experts, and follow their direction. A stimmie here and a stimmie there and he'd be president again. The fact that he didn't do this is testament to how deeply flawed and incompetent he is as a human being.
