I personally have never liked the concept of a 2 party system, where trying to cast a vote for a developing third party is throwing that vote in the garbage
It would be much better to have, say, 6 different parties with 6 different ideologies, where some may be very similar but different in important ways. Rather than people being shoehorned into one or the other and then pressured to confirm to each’s hive mind But a 3+ party system will never happen

Germany had a 5 party representative parliament post WW1. Antifa, which was the largest of the five, resorted to street violence, and an uncompromising brunt upon the political process which drove all 3 of the other parties to consolidate under the Nazi umbrella. Hitler was never voted into power. When all 4 of the parties opposing antifa's bullshit consolidated, the legislature appointed Hitler as the Grand Chancellor.

the fundamental problem of the weimar republic was that german liberals agreed more with adolf hitler destroying jewish people than with german socialists destroying private property.

I think there's an additional disconnect because the illiberal left and Trumptards are the only people who can't seem to tell the difference between Twitter and real life. The left you see on Twitter is not real. And by not real, I mean they don't vote and don't do any of the important jobs or make any of the important decisions. I know there are many who might finish that last sentence with "yet". I have no rebuttal for that other than to say I sure as hell hope not.
