If you are playing on Green, the default UI is forced and you cannot change it.

You can make it non-translucent by right clicking windows selecting:

Window -> Background -> Texture (Turns it white)
Window -> Background -> Tint Color (Pick Black or any other reasonable color)

For DoT damage display, that was not added until a June 2003 patch which is way beyond the scope of this project
