I don't really dig this. It's like saying YOU want the person behind the character to always be the same, so that's how it should be. It just kinda sounds like the disappointment is more about people not playing rather than the actual exchanging of a character for plat.

As far as easy PVP kills, noob stomping is fun, but it can make things boring too lol. I'm an avid TF2 player, and they just made the game free to play, and the shit isn't even fun right now. It's like playing against bots on the easiest setting, so ridiculous lol. You can spin in circles holding down the mouse button and kill everyone pretty much.
