In that alternate universe where Gore got to be president the Gou'uld wiped out half of the human population with a first strike on the planet before Samantha Carter was able to activate the invisibility shield, cloak thing and we no longer had a real democracy, except in name.

J/k tho. We shouldn't throw our democracy away because of a few minor 'oofs' thats not what this should be about.
