Variance has been in place for almost 10 years. You can't go back.
I find it amazing that all these changes and revisions over the years in order to placate the low life losers has done nothing to make anyone happy. The problem is the attitude of raiding guilds. They are total fucking scumbags that everyone else is supposed to walk on egg shells around because they kill dragons. Fuck them. If no dragons on this server were killed or if their was a rotation nobody but a handful of people that play here would ever give a fuck. It's all to just stand in the tunnel showing off anyways. It doesn't even mean anything. Classic Era Blue Raiding was way worse than this. You babies have it easy. We had to walk up hill to boss mobs both ways. In 2 feet of snow. Every boss spawn was high drama in the supreme court of loot rights. Not only that, but at that time in the really early days once a boss popped you had to have a force there ready in order to even have a legitimate claim to the boss. It was a total nightmare of a clusterfuck. So like SOLB for example guilds would train the spiders all over each other and wipe the entire zone, including the XP groups. The glory Days of P99 Wild West. IB was ruthless and pitiless. Their shit stain attitude is still the legacy of this server. They set the table for all the drama that people are experiencing today. It's never going to change. To be elite on this server requires no life and no conscience. Most of the drama happened before the boss even spawned. You had all kinds of shady shit going on with the trackers trying to train each other "by accident". This is the problem with EQ Raiding. It was designed for role players and nerds, not hardcore no lifers in 2020. The spirit of the game's back was broken a long time ago. Players back on live would police this shit themselves and GMs would for the most part turn a blind eye to training and let shit sort itself out on it's own. GMs were paid minimum wage to babysit adults in pixel diapers and didn't want to deal with it. They would just suspend everyone and lay down a heavy hammer and that quickly solved the problem. GMs on this server have to deal with affidavits written by some haughty loser in his early 50s. The players have too much power. If I was a GM on this server I would just suspend, suspend, suspend and say fuck you for getting me involved with this. If I'm a GM and you're making me show up to handle your temper tantrums, somebody is getting the hammer. Pay the toll. Don't like it? TOO BAD. RE-ROLL. My attention would be on the average player who never raids, making the box fun for them. That was Verant's philosophy on Live. Take care of the average player. The majority of players here don't raid. They are re-living nostalgia. On this server it's ass backwards. Too much time is spent catering to the elites and making rules/changes around their game play. Where is Uthgaard when you need him. Yea, people hate on that guy but he was the only GM on this server who ever treated the low lifes how they should be treated. With no respect and a heavy ban hammer. The seeds to how things are so fucked up right now were planted 10+ years ago when GMs on this server chose to intervene in mob disputes. They should have just let the players figure it out and adapt over time. Make their own rules and agreements or fuck it, train the shit out of each other and the server culture is what it is. Players built their own sandbox. They should live in it. Like Blue State (No Pun Intended)

Poopsocking has to be dealt with. Bottom line. It's wrong, that's all there is to it.
Unil the player community unites on this, I douby any action will occur. It would be a shame to waste all the hard work that went into this amazing project.

You can't PVP on Green server Getting trained mid fight will only make your guild stronger long term unless you are a bunch of pussies with no skills Plus when you handle things with +train it makes the victory all the more sweeter

16 hours or so variance is classic.
Midsize guilds can only compete if variance is zero or with exclusive FTE lockouts. 2-4 hours variance will do nothing, casuals won't sock an instant engage force for that length of time even

8 hours? Not for everyone for sure, but still a doable length of time. 16 hours? Fuck that, it's mind numbing and life disruptingly long. Only the hardcore neckbeards willing to stay up for ever/stick to a real life schedule purely based around mob spawns are willing to do it, or you end up having to be in some awful huge zerg federation an just fling huge numbers of people at it to ensure enough are online at all times over the 16 hours. 4 to 8 hours variance seems a lot more reasonable/fun/healthy
