The UK government has concluded people with a higher BMI are more likely to test positive, more likely to require admission to the ICU if they do test positive, and ultimately twice as likely to die. They also conclude that this may explain the racial disparity in COVID infections as Black Women are three times a likely to be obese in the UK as Asian men. I have not checked their methodology, so this paper could be garbage, but I guess that because doctors have financial incentives to classify every death as COVID, and obese people die more and have more health problems, we naturally see more obese among the casualties.

So the virus is racist and hates obese people.

Clutching at straws a bit but someone with poorer overall health is going to be more susceptible to illness, right? Not like anyone can go to a gym to sort it out lately either :s
