That's exactly how I used to read them too! I thought Sanderson did an ok job finishing, although certain choices he made I didn't love. I'm looking forward to the show! Sanderson did the best he could with what he had to work with. That's about the fairest way I can put it. With how many side stories and subplots Jordan was spinning it amazes me the thing got finished in as few words as it did.

I wouldn't mind seeing other authors dip into that world as long as they don't touch the main storyline. In a very Dragonlance sort of way where you just get... more interesting material to read. Certainly not canon material, but just more.

Yeah, I've always thought that with how much depth Jordan wrote into the world it would be fertile ground for other authors to tell other stories in the setting. So many good opportunities in there for stories set before, and after, the events of the main story.
