the thing about craters being circular is kew tho, like "why are there no glancing blow-shaped, dragging craters shaped like a plane's crash-landing pattern?"
the answer is that all the compression and stuff turns the impact into an explosion, just by the dispersion of all that kinetic energy. it's not just rocks hitting things -- impacts on the scale like we see on the moon from earth were all both kinetic impacts of relatively large bodies and massive chemical detonations with a spherical type pattern. however that is a cool angle you are trying out there ^^ | ||
