My wife posted for ours while I started my toon. Didn't seem to take long, but that was over a year ago.

If your IP exemption hasn't gone through and is taking a while - you might want to check your thread and ensure that it has complete information in an easy to read format and includes things like...

account names for all accounts involved.....

Quote:
IP Exemption: This is for requesting to be exempt from the limit of 1 connection per IP Address. You may request exemption if you have more than 1 real person playing from the same IP. When posting for this, please include the account names of every person that will be playing from the same IP.
Chances are if you just say My wife, son and I are going to play and need an IP exemption then that's not going to help. if you say "My 7 buddies and I want to lan so IP exemption plz" you aren't going to get one.

Account names for every account involved. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

If your post is taking a long time and is incomplete - i'd recommend editing it and bumping it. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

For me and friends the times have been about 12 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, and 1 day. Not sure if we're just that lucky, or what.

By the way, we're getting quite the lan parties going now...is there any limit to IP Exemptions? Not sure if I need to stop telling people about the server or what.

Yeah, I think I pissed off the wrong people or something.

If you don't have yours done, and you posted > 2 weeks ago, one or all of the following probably applies to you:
  • You didn't follow the instructions.
  • You requested more than 2 accounts with questionable or no information. I'm not going to flag 5 accounts just because someone posts the account names and no other text. You have a higher responsibility to prove that you're different people.
  • You haven't bumped your thread since you posted it, and it's lost 20 pages back in the petition forum.
  • You've been banned for 2boxing before and didn't think I'd notice that new forum name you registered, or you lied in the exemption. It's not easy to slip one by me.

In order of frequency, it's really that simple.

I was able to get one for me and my brother's accounts, I'm wondering though does that only allow us to play on those 2 accounts? If I were to want to play on a different account with him is that an option? Would i need to apply for that account to be added to my exemption?

Also what is the official stance on sharing accounts? Like is it ok to log on a friend to use their character?

I like the stance against boxing (prevents people from just 6 boxing and holding camps forever) but still not familiar with all the rules yet I read through all the rules I saw and didn't really see anything specific to sharing accounts although I may just fail at reading.

See Baalzy's post. Edited to remove incorrect response.

As long as a single person is running a single account, you may access any accounts to which you know the login information. However, when you get into a fight with your brother and he logs in, binds you in kedge, and kills you in seb basement, don't go whining to the devs that you gave your account info out. Also, don't log into his account while you are logged into yours, that's boxing and a bannable offense.

The above could possibly pertain to the 3 IP exemptions I requested 2 weeks ago, but I am not sure what else I can do to prove that we in fact, are 3 different people, living in the same household. I did explain the situation as best I could. We're all related, and none of us are multiple-boxing gamers nor do we plan to be.

What other proof/information should we give besides account names?

You are exempted by IP, not by account. So if your IP exemption is for 2 accounts, presumably you can have any 2 accounts running from the same IP, but not a third.
Not true, the exemptions are on the account not your IP.

Otherwise everytime your ISP decided to issue you a new Ip address (which they theoretically could do hourly if they wanted) you'd have to apply for a new exemption.

Instead, accounts with IP exemptions don't get counted as your 1 connection /ip. This means if you decided to create a separate account to level a cleric on (to share with friends/guild makes, for example) you'd need to request a new exemption. Although it's possible that you could still play it as long as the other account you were playing with had their own exemptions. But if you were both to create brand new accounts, you'd definitely need to apply for new exemptions.
