The spawn time reduction was not removed. It was 80% at launch, and it was lowered to 40% this morning, which is still a significant reduction.

I'll move it up to 60% for now.
Nice, good decision.

This explains why the change felt so bad. Things that had been spawning every 2 minutes were spawning every 6 minutes. The spawn times tripled.

Things that had been spawning every 2 minutes were spawning every 6 minutes. The spawn times are fixed and classic.

Imho spawns should have been on normal timers since day 1. Let god sort it out.

In the example I used, the classic spawn timer would have been 10 minutes. That would have caused a riot.

I wasn't there when EQ launched so I don't know if these populations are classic. 2500 concurrent players doesn't sound like that many by modern standards, but EQ had many servers. If there were significantly fewer people trying to squeeze through the newbie zones simultaneously on each server, then there's a good argument to be made that classic spawn times aren't actually true to the classic experience.

EQ launched in 1999 it wasn't even close to this kind of population at launch per server.

Thats not how the spawners worked in newbie zones on live though.
