Play what you like is the best advice. It's not a silly cliché, it's a hard lesson learned.

When you have limited playtime, there's a couple things you can do to help yourself. Since traveling is a thing in classic EQ, you can plan your week out; Monday night travel from Faydwer to Antonica, get a bind in Freeport,and get to upper guk.
