Hahaha, I feel like the people acting up the most as we close in on Green launch are the ones that invested the most time on Blue.

Could just be a coincidence, dunno.

Paying for all the subscriptions in order to box was classic too. I don't hear you complaining about that.

Not only the subscription fee, but the buying second copy of the game. Purchasing a second computer that was capable of running EQ. Then paying to install a second phone line with its monthly charge and if your provider charged you for internet usage such as unlimited packages (each line). Then shelling out for early cable and renting the router/buying one. Having one "gaming" computer back then was out of the norm. When we got cable put in the install guy asked why so much RAM.

Some extra ram, a sound & graphics accelerator. X2 that if you wanted to box, minus a sound card if you only used it like a bot. So while it was classic you had to be .. very immersed and have access to above average disposable income to do all of that for just one game on the market. Justifying it was something to consider. Extra charge on the power bill running two computers for hours on end.

It was a lot of money to box in original era.

I think a part of this is a fear that with green release, and no influx of new blue players the 'value' (not implying RMr, no sir!) of their existing wealth is going to bottom out. Evidence to support this statement might be something like someone taking a new job as they realise their illegal income source is going to disappear.

People who are wealthy are going to continue to be wealthy on blue. Anyone who was good at making money will be good at making money on green. I look forward to tunnel questing on both servers at the same time. It will be fun.

They'll still have the wealth but the wealth won't have "value" (not implying pixels have any kind of dollar trade transactions).

That would only be true if Blue didn't have anyone playing there. There are still going to be plenty of folks on Blue, especially at the higher end, which is going to be the bread and butter for anyone trading in EQ.

Now, I fully agree that blue wealth will hold less value than it did before, but that is subject to change as the novelty of green wears off and then again when green eventually rolls into blue. Anyone who is wealthy shouldn't be particularly bothered by it. Plat will still be able to buy the things we care about on Blue.
