Are Mage pets supposed to be move at slow speed when following the caster?

I've not tried the beta yet but this is how pets function on blue/red.

You can outrun them and when they're commanded to attack they move at run speed basically (on blue).

Doesn't sound like a bug unless they're even slower than pets on blue.

Never played Magician before so it sounds like it's normal.
