I can't find the reference now, but I could swear I read here that Greenmist was implemented well after Kunark launch...possibly in Velious. But I can't seem to be able ot find that post.

I don't recall bane weapons being around in Kunark. Velious or Luclin iirc.

While this is definitely not proof of when the item was originally implemented it at least shows that it was available before Luclin. I know the Monk version was broken for a long time and was fixed just before Luclin.

Bane weapons were definitely a Luclin thing, but might have come early as a sort of 'preview' of Luclin.

OR the Bane was added to the weapon AFTER Luclin came out like it did with so many other items.

so we have established it was a "KUNARK" era weapon, but the only post appeared on it 1 month before luclin, sugesting that a) it was implemented before luclin to hint at lore
b)that the quest was not"found" untill 1 month before velious*or at least reported*
c)possible implementation at Chardok revamp,?

It was broken during kunark and most of velious. Devs finally responded to bitching and reimplemented it october/nov 2001, just after chardok revamp.

Bane was on the weapon since it came out.

100% sure on all this info.
