I'm not sold that Whirl and Draught should behave the exact same way.
D.D.Draught's duration was always balanced by the fact that the refresh time on the spell was so long. Also Draught has a melee and debuff and mana drain component, so it would make no sense for melee damage to eliminate the debuff instantly. | ||

I think draught is overnerfed, as well as charm duration. However you can still solo, just use lvl 4 mezz instead of draught, and learn to use your aoe stuns, instead of whirl. Keep runes up for the charmbreaks, and keep the mob you fighting rooted. And the critical calm ressists are pretty rare if you have maxed cha, and its not so hard to max cha.
