Strength is a quality of life stat: You need it to carry your armor and loot you pick up. Erudites don't start with a lot (I regard them as borderline inadequate in that respect) so you'll be on the lookout for more strength for a good while. Armor pieces that have strength in addition to other stats you want (orc fang earrings, treeweave, et cetera) are good low-budget items to look for. Strength is mediocre as a damage increase. It *does* increase maximum (and hence also average) damage dealt, but you need a lot of strength to notice good damage improvement. The main means of increasing your damage done are by improving weapon and by improving worn haste.
In general Paladins solo steadily up into the 30's, and with increasing difficulty to about 50 or so. Past that Paladin solo remains technically doable, but it becomes so slow that most players (myself included, to be sure) won't have the patience for it anymore. It's primarily a grouping class.
