I'm no expert but I'd say use the 1H / Shield when any kind of caster mob is concerned. Having an insta bash when your stun resists or is on cooldown is worth the damage you're giving up anyway. Paladin DPS is pretty trivial in a 6 man group, especially when talking about the minuscule amount you'd be losing from using something like the above spear versus Nagoya's Rod of Faith. Edit: A word
