Yep, it's always good to take some kind of high ground.
I was in a bit of a camp dispute the other day, where a gentleman told me to go blow my dog. Instead of doing anything knee-jerk like becoming hostile or going out and buying a dog, I decided to initiate a thoughtful conversation with him about animals and obtaining consent. Everyone was able to leave the conversation less upset and more confused, which is exactly what I prefer.
