I read about UO as a young RPG lover. Didn’t have a PC but longed for a game like that. Got a PC Feb 1999. Rest is history.

similar. read about UO a lot during the 90's and then EQ was being promoted and the website and concept art looked sick. EQ was mostly successful because it was one of a few websites that actually looked good for the mid-90's era of shitty websites.

it pulled a lot of people in that way who hadn't really played any shitty MUDs or UO.
