I think it is the intention really, why would he bother to implement fixes that would only pertain to classic/kunark era at this point in the timeline while other content is scheduled to be released?

Just a theory indeed though, maybe he got all OCD and just wanted an old bug report closed out if he could get some crowd sourcing.
