He's trying to use classical philosphers to justify his morally defunct behavior while ignoring the fact that the Romans and Greeks were thoroughly deplorable societies by modern standards (slaves, tyrants, conquest, etc). Socrates may be the father of modern philosphy, but the field has understandably advanced in the last 2500 years.
