It's half a day or less - thought it was 12 or 8 hours or something but 7 might be right. Easiest way to get an exact timer would be to leave a character afk with /log on out in the newbie yard, that seems to be the most common area to kill him (though it's no guarantee). Can't remember if he does a shout or anything that would be visible from elsewhere in the zone.
