I think this is where the problem is:

[VideoMode]
Width=1280
Height=768
WidthWindowed=2560
HeightWindowed=1600
WindowedWidth=2560
WindowedHeight=1600

I think you might need to change the last 4 lines of that bit to:

[VideoMode]
Width=1280
Height=768
WidthWindowed=1280
HeightWindowed=768
WindowedWidth=1280
WindowedHeight=768

I am not 100% certain though so it might hurt to make a backup of your .ini file just to be safe.
Crookstinger beat me to it, but yeah those multiple resolution settings are exactly what I suspected. And as suggested it's always a good idea to take a backup before changing anything.

Changing it only changes the window size, but not what is in the window.

This is peculiar. Resolution both affects the window size (you're saying "play EverQuest in a space X by Y"), but it also affects the size of stuff inside the window (because you're saying "scale the stuff inside that window to X by Y"). But it seems like you changing the resolution only changes the first part.

First, sanity check: can you try fixing the resolution, then restarting your computer and restarting EQ? Sometimes Windows is just weird. If that doesn't help though hopefully someone else will have an idea.

EDIT

I found this thread, which seems to match your "things go black when you go to full screen" behavior: https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=76197. Wouldn't hurt to try:

Ok Here is how I fixed it.

I cut my eqclient.ini file out of the directory so it was forced to create a new one. Violia it works. I loaded EQ didnt touch a SINGLE OPTION.

It worked again when I loaded it.

Went into game, changes resolution to native, 1920x1080, reloaded it. WORKED!
(In other words, instead of trying to fix what's broken in your eqclient.ini you can back it up, remove it, then start EQ, which forces it to create a new, not-broken eqclient.ini, and then go from there. Of course you'll lose all your current settings changes, but it might be worth the hassle of having to re-do those changes.)

Did it change it back to the size you were used to before the Alt-Tab incident? If so, then I wonder if maybe just changing two of those 4 lines would help. For instance:

WidthWindowed=1280
HeightWindowed=768
WindowedWidth=2560
WindowedHeight=1600

or

WidthWindowed=2560
HeightWindowed=1600
WindowedWidth=1280
WindowedHeight=768

I am not sure what the difference is between WidthWindowed and WindowedWidth (same goes for height) but maybe they don't do the same thing.

Another thing you might try (and maybe try this before changing the numbers above) is reloading your UI, if the window size is back to where you like it. The command is /loadskin <ui_name> or I think you can do it from the options window.

EDIT: Excellent suggestions by Loramin above as well.
