I like Dial a Port. I've used them many times and always had good experiences. But I do think there are some issues and reasons why conflicts arise that DaP may be able to improve with rethinking pricing structure.
DaP serves two different customer bases - established players with plenty of PP, and newer players who are poor. If you have a tipping model, you must be willing to accept a big different in tips between these two customers. Also, the 1pp per level rule does not apply well to the new player, as PP gain is not linear. 30PP is a LOT more money to a lvl 30 than 50pp is to a lvl 50.

I feel like if you have a tips only model, you should accept the shortcomings above, and accept whatever tip is given. And be understanding to the new players (remember, someday they will be rich, and they will still be your customers then, too!) Either that, or set a pricing model that is clear to everyone and charge specific rates. To not do the latter, but yet complain about the former, is not fair to your customers.

You can still bind at firepots but you have to compensate DaP for the lost business and pay them a large weekly fee. Also they don't let just anyone do it; you need references, proof of credit and someone to give you a personal introduction to Tupakk. You would know this if you were more in the know, but you're not so I can't really say any more about it.

This.

When I started I would use DaP sparingly as I could not afford to port everywhere constantly. I believe even at level 10ish I would tip 30 plat just because I remember that being pretty standard on live.

If DaP had set prices specified they could avoid all this shit they are getting. It is dishonest to say "donations accepted" and then refuse to port the person/blacklist them afterwards if their donation didn't meet the minimum amount the porter actually had in mind.

DaP is what it is though. You invite any porter with a pulse and you are bound to get a LOT of bad seeds.
