On a server full of min-maxers, it shouldn't surprise anyone that they determined the best chance of getting a rare was to maximize the amount of XP-giving mobs in a given time period. In this case, it meant making a low level character and buffing it out and twinking it up. Everyone had this opportunity. You had to choose between doing that or trying to be the first over to Kunark to re-experience 11-year-old content or try to lock down certain camps. To each their own. It was fair because we all had the same opportunities and decisions to make about how we wanted to spend launch night.
