Abortion won't get touched. Like guns won't get touched. Those are "issues" politicians throw at each other when they have little else to yell about at their opponent and to rouse their supporters into fervor like good sycophants.
I disagree

Yours is the common wisdom and definitely applies for establishment types like Romney and McCain. They know better than to do it and they know better than to say it.

Trump does not.

Trump stated several times he think these issues should be left to the states and SCOTUS. Seems like he will be hands off with most social issues which the left shouldn't have a problem with but they do. Not even sure why lgbtqwhatsits are up in arms. Trump was the first country club owner to admit gays, has attended several gay weddings etc. Its just scare mongering from the media because viewership is in the tank with no trust. The elections were the only thing propping them up and now that they will be over they are going to go back to starving for viewers.

this doesn't qualify as a coherent thought. It's already up to SCOTUS and 'leave it up to the states' means restricting it locally. You're smarter than this!

Think it just means he won't do anything. SCOTUS has ruled abortion legal. All that would be left to the states would be regulation. Don't think anybody really wants federal regulation of abortion.

Courts can change and leaving it up to the states is a metaphor for making it illegal!

Lies!
Quit calling people names over your lies!

"Abortion in the United States is legal, via the landmark case of Roe v. Wade. However, individual states can regulate/limit the use of abortion or create "trigger laws", which would make abortion illegal within the first and second trimesters if Roe were overturned by the US Supreme Court."

It does NOT automatically make abortion illegal, but allows the states to decide. You would need to actually "vote" in your state to decide if abortion be illegal or legal in your state, or what degree of which. Such as California, before RvW, abortion was legal, not illegal. You are simply projecting your totalitarianism onto everyone else, accusing everyone else of what you yourself favor.

I favor state rights in most issues in fact. 90% of your progressive federal govt should burn! Federalizing everything simply erodes our ability to voice our concerns, gives great power to the few, overrides our liberties. It needs to stop!

Abortion is currently legal in all 50 states. So when a politician says to end federal protection for it - and leave it up to the states - what do you think that means?

Who's liberty is being infringed by abortion being legal?

btw States rights zealots such as yourself and Dr. Paul aren't the audience they're speaking to.

I always understood the wall to be a metaphor and figured Trump would affirm that shortly after winning if pressed on the issue. Maybe the wall will include an expansion of the Bush wall, or another physical element, but it's just a general barrier to entry.

I don't think Trump particularly cares about social issues and he is certainly not going to pursue abortion bans or gay marriage bans or prayer in school. I could be wrong, but I see him as reasonably liberal in at regard. He's just also reasonably conservative when it comes to things like national security and immigration.

Going to be really interesting though to see what he does, because it could be super shitty or it could be good. Either way, the US is going a new direction. Up a hill or off a cliff remains to be seen ^^
