couple of notes right now...

the art is over stylized and too loud. There are too many objects which seem really important to the eye on the stragetic map. Some of the icons are too big, so the actual landscape and units feel less tangible on the map.

feels a lot more complex than civ 5 does during the opening rounds. It's nice that builders are expended.

Movement is generally slower on the minimap. Even scout units can't travel freely over rivers.

The upgrade system is improved. The tree is laid out similar to a talent tree in vanilla WoW. You can interweave and even just get the most basic powerups before getting the creme de la creme. I particularly enjoyed upgrading my scout.

Getting into Classical Era has more significance. The social policy tech tree is a big improvement imo and creates more opportunity for synergistic synchronization with your tech tree, productions, and objectives.

Objective system is a nice way to "speed up" the game. I find it's almost too easy to boost my techs and social policies. It happens automatically, even if you aren't researching that particular tech at the time. Perhaps this gets harder in harder difficulties. I played around on King with a friend.

Upgrading a unit also automatically heals it. No more burning upgrades for instaheal.

Overall, I don't experience the same dopamine fueled click frenzy that Civ 5 delivered. However, it seems like a really good game. I will continue playing it and hope to find the same levels of dankness I once discovered in the pits of Civ 5 addiction.
