Oh man, that looks awesome. That blade graphic was embarrassingly bad lol.

I'm pretty sure the HQ armor texture pack that was put together by Chebby did utilize some light image editing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the original guy who did that stuff was Apog, and he would basically just upscale the texture image, use a smudge/blur tool to make it look decent, and then repack it into the s3d. Basically stuff anyone can do, it's just time-consuming and laborious.

Not sure about chebby's. I thought they were just a straight upscale with no extra work (hence visors and some others having broken transparency). I know nysus and a few others rebuilt a handful of textures from scratch that were included in his release. Must have taken forever..

There's another blade that also has that horribly aliased clipping mask, I don't remember the name of the weapon but I do remember it had the "Kunark star" on it and it was like a scimitar. Hopefully Cucu will find and unfuck that one too.

They weren't smudged and blurred, they were rebuilt from scratch. I did some of them. It was tedious and painstaking work, which is why the project never really got finished. I always hoped to get back into it but trying to line up the scales on the iksar monk armor (the last set I worked on and never finished) drove me insane. Since Velious came out with the new armor graphics I lost interest.

I'm glad the torch has been picked up again using Cucumbers's more efficient process of Photoshop "unfuckery".

It's little bit better.. I need to re-do them at an 8x scale and fix the colors and edges a bit better

If you want to do some less tedious work LMK [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]**

Wow, that looks awesome. I could probably get into this - I have Photoshop CC installed already.

Yeah, Nysus is Apog's forum handle.

Ah okay, I had it the wrong way around then - the method you guys were using was much more work and involved rebuilding lots of stuff. Although, the textures that Apog worked on were smudged and blurred, but that was just a small part of the process after he upscaled the image by 400%.
