nice troll but it's common knowledge that Germany was mere weeks away from developing their own functioning atomic bomb that would have been dropped on us. also a land invasion of japan would have cost both sides significantly more lives than dropping the bomb did.

I don't think it was wrong, given the alternatives:

- Nuclear bomb being dropped on US, probably a city like New York with a higher population density than hiroshima/nagasaki

- Land invasion of Japan, leading to estimated roughly 1 million casualties between both sides (atomic bomb death toll was a bit over 200k?)

Hiroshima was part of war. War is awful. Do you realize hat prior to those bombs, Japanese women and children were practicing with bamboo sticks (fucking bamboo sticks!) to defend the homeland from a ground invasion by US? A ground invasion could have quite literally been the end of the Japanese people. And not because of some sinister ambitions of Americans, but because of the extraordinary pride of Japan.

The atomic weapons were not terrorism. They were a reasoned attempt to end the war with as few casualties as possible. The Emperor is to blame for that tragedy. He was God. He could have out an end to it at anytime.
