Drop transfer nerf?

just find an out of the way tradeskill device and put items in there and hope nobody strolls along to use it... or have friends/guildmates that can do a quick transfer for you

does stuff remain in those kinds of devices indefinitely (barring server restarts, etc)?

While it doesn't really help you here I can confirm that they did stay indefinitely on Live servers.
