What happens if you just remove every raid rule, remove variance and just let the mobs spawn in at their appointed time?

The raid that does the most damage wins it?

Seems like a much easier idea than all the BS that goes on in this game every night.

And customer service can take the night off.

Do this or make all raid zones PVP, much more classic than all the bull on blue.
We basically had this the first few years of the server. What happened was one guild dominated it all.

Yep, everyone just follows the herd. We're told we must raid here and get the best pixels available. I think I spent most of Velious on live leveling my first shaman after giving up my wizard.

By the time that happened and I'd done some "lite" raiding...Luclin was released, no joke [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Same here. I'd been around since July of 99, but I didn't really raid (save some old school Fear wipes and Hate break-ins) until Planes of Power had released, and that raid was Luclin content.

I like the way it worked out. I wasn't hard enough core to be the shit when it was cutting edge. But I was a good second tier raider then.

The servers are just too top heavy. Back in the day you had way more people playing but it was all spread out. Most servers had 1 to 2 hardcore raiding guilds. Almost every zone on live had people. You could go and find a group anywhere. Hardly anyone knew what they were doing. Now you come on p99 and everyone knows everything about the game. If they don't they can just google it.

This is not removing all raid rules, but replacing raid rules with new raid rules.

Surely removing raid rules would mean using the regular server rules, so if a magician brings sufficient force to Innoruuk he and his force get to camp Innoruuk until he gets the item he wants (mage epic piece) and then he gets to pass on the camp to the person of his choosing (another group/raid/guild member).

Problem is there are way more raid capable players/toons than there were on live in velious era. No variance=low cost of participation= everyone is gonna be on spawn point doing dumb shit.

Full variance +-7 days, with random repops. Just make rules simple: don't train, don't stall, don't ninja loot...if you're caught and it's obvious you eat a serious suspension. Only the hardest of hardcore will track for two weeks straight, and you'll probably get some raid mobs up for more than 5 minutes cause people were tracking something else. Hell you could probably let people poop sock still with full variance...wonder if whole armies would be perma logged in at vulak
i asked sirken about this during a recent stream, he expressed serious concerns about people dying while tracking

oh also, for others- staff is never going to reduce variance stop asking and get serious

Was there talk of an estimated percentage of players that were actually at risk, and what would be considered an acceptable loss?

Top heavy isn't the main issue on the raid scene, it's the multiple (some people have 6 or more) raid ready chars parked out in different locations ready to log in. If there was some way to limit each IP being able to only log in 1 raiding char per 'session' (particualry during earthquakes if they were more frequent) the raid scene would instantly become a far better place to be.

Mobilisation would become a thing. Proper racing for targets classic style would become a thing. It would be glorious.
