Put in the time get the loot. Also we LC AoNs so those players that go to optional raids, donate pp and mallets to the guild get rewarded on top of winning loot from dkp.

There's usually about 10 people in a guild that don't benefit from pure DKP, and they're generally the most useful players. Straight DKP systems are for when you have a powerful constituency of warmbodies and you're worried about them losing hope. Don't forget to Jibeknn it and make sure the playmakers get enough to screw the scrubs over anyways!

far easier then objective (lol) loot council calls are

never trust a loot council that doesn't let members listen to the decisions they're making (so, any and every loot council that has ever existed on p99)

i don't think it would go over well if an 80 man raid listened in on a decision about 2 items a dragon droppe and a vast majority of those people aren't even considered

people would get seriously butthurt when they'd ask after a loot decision "hey was i even in the top 3" and we would say "no"

ya on second thought that would be cripplingly retarded in an everquest guild. works really well on warcraft and other smaller raid force games.

You must be speaking as a warmbody yourself because the kind of contributions that really matter and aren't a given don't really have a metric.

There's no easily available metric for comparing Colgate and Gongshow to Chiggen. There's no metric for a lot of very crucial differences in players. This is why in a good guild with loot council, each individual's contribution is weighed appropriately. Pure DKP systems fail to give the playmakers the credit they deserve and just add to the entitlement of warmbodies.

I would never seriously raid under a pure DKP system - it's a race to the bottom. However, I can see how they are sometimes necessary for a ragtag band of scrubs. Enjoy it.
