I managed to spend under 100pp and make a full set of banded, didn't get my skill any higher than 89 either.

The guy was just retarded. He was offering 300p per roll, you roll 0 to 1000 and win with 666, 777, or 888. With CoF at 95k and fungi at 75k, I don't know how he expected to make money. I decided to take a stab at it with 110 rolls, then traded in an SBS and SoS for more rolls.

Value of prize items = 95k + 75k = 170k
Chance of winning per roll = 3/1001
Value of each roll = 170k * 3/1001 = 509p
Price he's selling rolls for = 300p
Expected loss for him = 209p per roll

oh wow, I thought he was giving away the choice of item, not both :S

Edit: also just noticed, I missed out a zero in the notation of my previous calculation, but the result was correct.
