Related question about Sham/Dru/XXX Melee

I already have a RL friend 14 Sham/Druid duo- we're animal charming in the Karanas. Another RL friend is interested in rolling a character, and I want to push her towards a tank class, or a Rogue to DPS while druid charm tanks.

If she goes for a tank class, what would work the best for the least PP spent on gear?

Also, would an undergeared tank be strictly better than a Rog + charm animal tank?

This absolutely will not work. Aggro will always switch to the player character over the charmed pet. The only way it can happen is with fear kite or aggro kite, either of which will really suck for the Rogue because latency on this server will constantly return mob is out of range / cannot see your target errors.

Probably a Paladin or SK unless you want to add a chanter and cleric to do harder one-group content in Velious, in which case you would need a Warrior.

Thanks for the heads up! I assumed that fear kiting would be awesome.

aim for where the mob will be in half a second, not where the mob is. problem solved. learned this while fear kiting unsnared mobs for 30 levels.

The problem with this method is that they rarely run the same direction for very long, and you are more likely to get adds unless you pick safe areas. Also, without a sow you can get out of range very quickly as they do 180's on you and if you are slow on the switch yourself.

I just read a few other guides/forum posts that suggest that Necro/Rogue is a really good duo. Now I'm not sure what to believe ! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Necro/Rogue is a "really good duo" in theory, but gets old reeeally quick. Too much chasing and "Out of Range" spam. Necro/Enc or Necro/Druid are my favorite leveling duos.. only time you stop is when you're out of mobs.

Shaman/Ench/Necro for leveling trio. Nothing you really can't do and lots of redundancy if a problem does pops up.

Ranger/Druid/Ench has become another favorite of mine lately (at low/mid levels), even moreso in animal dense zones. Does get old if you resort to fear kiting though.

Shaman, shadowknight & enchanter.

The shadowknight may not be best dps but has snap hate and snare
