Pets can wear anything. But they will only equip one ring and one earring. Remember you will never get that stuff back.
One start for the root problem is keep your pets first buff slot open so that when root lands you can dispell it. Your summoned Insta click to dispell is great for this.
All potions are self only.
I have no info on the charming problem tho. And I believe that for the fear problem you are just boned.

Mage isnt a very good pvp class. I would quit while you're ahead to be honest. If you want a good farming class roll enchanter or necro. If you want a bit of a challenge with high reward go enchanter.

Enchanter is pretty weak until you hit around 30, but after that they go beast mode. Also it takes like 2k to max cha, from there you will just need to save for a resist set and +hp gear.

You can pumice roots and fear. Other then that. Long casting time nukes, no cc makes not a very good pvp character.

Maybe ask somebody that has a resist magic buff to do it on your pet? I know that's relying on others, but maybe your best bet.
