Looking good.

I fell back from Vikings the same way I fell back from Black Sails.

First 1.5 seasons I was onboard then I just drifted off. I think I wasn't getting a big enough dose of Lodbrok's wife. Or the premium cable snob in me. If its not premium, it can't be that good! Even if its good.

Nobody I know watches Black Sails so I can't find out if its worth catching up or if it jumped the shark.

Oh did you miss Blood Eagel? That was just cray-cray. That happened after 1.5. It was a little slow through parts of season two, but a lot to do with Ragnar's rise and better establishing of characters. I'd say season 1 was rise to local power. Season 2 towards regional power. Season 3 a failed attempt towards western power. Season 4... vengeance.

Will Ragnar completely lose it this season?

hah yeah actually if you are referring to the blood eagle, right it wasn't Ragnar that did that, it was his son Ivar, when later he went back and conquered and then executed his fathers killer. At least that's by historical accounts - though may not be accurate as some accounts conflict. Not far fetched Ragnar did the same, and then later Ivar thinking it was so cool - yet so gross - did it to his fathers killer/executioner. Authentic, but not so accurate. A jumble of stuff to make a good show.
