Meh, for a fraction of what I spend on hobbies I can buy a gun off the black market or for a fraction of that build an IED. But I'm a law abiding citizen and would never do such thing. It means I will never have a gun or weapon and will be vulnerable if someone didn't give a shit about the law. It is even illegal to own a bullet proof vest without a permit. Shit laws designed for sheep imo. All it would take is a bunch of crazy religious fanatics and a crate full of weapons shipped illegally and they could go door to door and wipe out a whole suburb before police can respond in force.

We are a lot more vulnerable here in Australia than people realise. I got jumped at a train station before fighting off the attackers back in 07 and it took 2 hours for the police to arrive for a police report - some randoms tried to gank me irl with a sneak attack while his pals were shit talking, they couldn't take me down with the cheap shot and I recovered, got some distance and put my guard up and yelled at them to bring it- they chose to piss bolt while I chased them down the street calling them a bunch of fucking pussies. Anyways police here take forever to respond if the crime is not right in front of a police station.

Sent this to the FBI. Enjoy the no fly list psycho.

It is not an easy issue. For example, the vast majority of guns used in mass shootings were obtained legally, so you could make the argument that gun control laws have no effect, or you could make the argument that they just aren't strict enough depending on your particular leaning on the subject. It is like any other that becomes a political lightning rod - the same data can be interpreted however you want.

It is pretty easy to take moral high ground when you're a basement dwelling shut in EQ emu player though. Try having a daughter in grade school and a wife that works in a major metro area downtown office building. Then how you feel about it becomes more practical and less about philosophy.

Since the Lindt cafe incident my wife is scared of going out in the city and didn't want me participating in Sydney city to surf. She gets paranoid every time she sees a heavily bearded Arab on the train with a backpack or shoulder bag when commuting home from the city since they can just as easily have a sawn off shot gun.

The guy that shot a police employee in the back of the head screaming Alah Ackbar a few months ago was fucking 15 years old. Gun control does shit all to stop people who don't give a fuck about laws.

i mean i've witnessed people die at the hands of firearms and lost multiple friends to misfire accidents. probably a little more first hand experience with the subject than "guy who has a daughter and his wife has a job" do you tense up a little when you walk by a black person?

i support gun control laws that make sense. the problem is, most people who write and lobby for gun control laws don't know a whole lot about guns and the implications the laws they make in the real world. for instance i think the assault rifle ban was stupid as hell but i'd kind of like my state to stop giving concealed carry liscences to 21 year olds with drug convictions or mental health issues. you know, common sense things.

See to me, banning a weapon that's only purpose is to mow down human beings seems like common sense.
