Frost giant wolf tamer ate my Gem of Persuasion

Ok, after looking into this again, the way it is written works like this:

-You may turn in a gem of persuasion for a giant's gem of persuasion.
-You may turn in a velium war wolf choker for a blood wolf harness.
-You may turn in a giants gem of persuasion AND a blood wolf harness for a Giants Harness of Control.

I believe this info was gathered from https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...2&postcount=92. If this isn't correct, need more information.

Yea I tried these steps, he ate the choker first, then I tried the crystal (4th time) and he ate that too, I did not get as far as handing both together.

To be more clear of what I have done I will list the steps (The guide says you can skip the choker btw).

First attempt, handed in the gem of persuasion to a frost giant wolf tamer and he ate it, was dubious at the time (which the guide says is ok as it recomends using a RZ deity alt to get the gem from Erdarf and be able to still hand it in to the wolf tamer).

Second attempt, same conditions (faction, same NCP, same item) he ate it.

Third attempt I had a chanter charm him at the ZL, I handed in the gem of persuasion (conned indifferent) and he handed back the giant gem of persuasion (yay!) I handed back the giant gem of persuasion and he ate it (boo!).

Fourth attempt, I killed a bunch of dwarves until indifferent with the wolf tamer, and got the velium war wolf choker just to be on the safe side. Handed in the choker, he ate it, handed in the gem of persuasion, he ate it.

I'm now sat at the tamer in protest until he hands them back :P

Just did all this with troll warrior of Rallos Zek dubious to all and worked fine even though they wouldn't talk to me. Great quest great item [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I tried this today with a Ogre Warrior of Rallos Zek and the wolf tamer wouldn't talk to me.

So I assumed dubiously to the giants wouldn't be enough anymore but I finally handed in the items and it worked, despite the fact that he didn't want to talk.

noticed you said Velium War Wolf Choker? the walkthrough you linked said

The quest calls for the velium war wolf choker so I never tried the regular one myself, even so the gems keep being eaten too.

Update:
after patch this morning went back to tamer.

Still apprehensive even after killing more wolves.

last time he didn't talk to me or face me when i hailed him or tried to do anything. This time he faced me when hailed and responded to quest text.

turned in gem of persuasion and he handed me back the giants version. Didn't manage to get a Velium War Wolf Choker, so haven't tried that turn in yet.

Maybe he was bugged and not resetting before?

Think maybe he should take either choker?

I waited in GD till a "Coldain War Wolf" (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=8769) spawned, (wasn't too hard at the time since there were people killing the PH's) which dropped a "War Wolf Choker"(will edit soon).
... I went up behind him and turned in the choker and the gem, but he gives back a "Blood Wolf Harness"

The Velium War Wolf Choker is dropable and it becomes the Blood Wolf Harness when you hand it in.

also sounds like you don't need the harness at all for the turn in? just giant gem back to tamer.
