What I don't understand is why it took so long for the OP group to pull king? The lack of people in the group because of reforming?

He was failing miserably for awhile to pull it they reformed and took the camp as they weren't actively pulling it/able to clear.

You can camp something all you want for hours but if you can't clear and kill it, you're not entitled to it.
