I am following No Man's Sky closely. When it appears on PC i will certainly give it a try (not buying a PS4 for it). Not sure if i will like it more than Elite : Dangerous. It seems to be aimed at fun with no big time sinks... but that means it will appear less "real" than ED.

The planet surfaces look amazing and detailed, that alone is enough for me to buy it. But the dimensions are all off. Planets are really tiny, star systems are totally unrealistic... it's a game after all and does not try to simulate anything.

ED will have planetary landings as well, but i am sure it will take at least a year before it comes. Will be interesting to compare then.

They've explained a lot of this. Planets are closer together intentionally and the atmosphere of said planets is intentionally thin.

During play tests they found that it simply wasn't fun to spend 15 moving through a planets atmosphere let alone hours flying from planet to planet

During the PC Conference they announced a simultaneous ps4 and PC launch date too. Surprisingly Sony backed them on it believing that ultimately the largest possible playerbase was the best option for the games health
