You do know boxing IS classic right? People seem to think just because they weren't aware of it, it didn't happen in classic. It became mainstream from Velious onward but it was around since day 1.

I know, although it was not common in a competitive environment simply because the player had to be able to vouch their connection was solid enough they could keep more than one box going without fail.

The tech limits of the day made boxing a second and third resort for competitive play, as a general rule, even though of course I remember my guild leader boxing his cleric and his brother's retired enchanter during raids *if* we needed the extra enchanter.

As the 2000's progressed, boxing became more trivial to do. But it was not something you liked to hear -- Hey I am boxing this other char -- during the first couple years of eq. 95% of people's setips and connections were not reliable enough for it. And *that* is classic.

But it is just a matter of taste, and to each their own. But to suggest that boxing was common in classic is just not true. I had 2 boxes -- ie, two computers -- but the lag and random bullshit that just made it a hassle kept me from playing them unless I was just doing something casual. And that was the norm. Boxing was a hassle and a second-resort for raiding in classic.
