The inconsistency you're seeing is probably from either not actually seeing all the petitions that are ruled on (which the staff sees), or listening to twisted anecdotes from people upset that they have to find something else to do for a couple weeks. If anyone was on staff in order to be liked, they would have left within a week of doing petitions.

To the thread in general: Classic PvP communities policed themselves, treating others as they'd be treated.

If I trusted the guilds in Red to do this, I'd be advocating for the PnP/etc to be peeled back.

I'm not.
